Arteriosclerosis is the thickening, hardening, and loss of elasticity of the walls of arteries. This buildup is called plaque. In short it is a disease that blocks the wall of arteries, and is often a consequence of aging.
There are 3 patterns of disharmony in our database that are associated with arteriosclerosis. TCM sees our body (and mind) as a holistic system in which health issues stem from imbalances, known as "patterns of disharmony". These patterns can manifest in a wide range of symptoms and illnesses, such as arteriosclerosis here.
For more details on the underlying causes and patterns behind arteriosclerosis, refer to this comprehensive page on the subject.
