Commentary

Fushe SP-13 is not a major point of the Spleen Channel and is not often used.

It's main action is to invigorate Qi and ease pain and distension, especially in abdomen.

Classical Sources

Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing (针灸甲乙经 - The Systematic Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion): "Fushe is located 3 cun below Fujie." This classical text establishes the point as a meeting point of the Spleen Channel with the Liver Channel and Yin Wei Mai.

Jiayi Jing: Records the point's indications for lower abdominal pain, hernia (shan qi), and abdominal masses.

Name Interpretation: Fu (府) means "bowels" or "fu organs" (the hollow organs); She (舍) means "abode" or "dwelling place." The name reflects that this point overlies the abdominal cavity where the fu organs reside. As stated in classical texts: "The deep region of Fu-she is the abdominal cavity, which is the dwelling place of the Zang-fu organs."

How to Locate

First identify the upper border of the pubic symphysis and measure 4 cun in a lateral direction and 0.7 cun in a superior direction, so as to identify Fushe SP-13 in a depression in the inguinal groove.

Caution

In thin patients, deep needling may penetrate the peritoneal cavity. Needle with caution and avoid deep insertion. The point lies near the inguinal region where the inferior epigastric vessels pass, so careful perpendicular insertion is recommended. Use caution during pregnancy due to the point's location in the lower abdomen and its connection to the Yin Wei Mai which influences the uterus.
