How to Locate

The distance between the upper border of the pubic symphysis and the center of the umbilicus is 5 cun. Zhongji REN-3 is on the anterior midline and 1 cun superior to the upper border of the public symphysis. Zigong EX-CA-1 is 3 cun lateral to Zhongji REN-3.

Caution

This point lies over the lower abdomen where deep needling can penetrate the peritoneum and potentially injure the small intestine. Always ensure the patient has emptied their bladder before needling. Strictly contraindicated during pregnancy as it can induce labor or cause miscarriage. Use caution during menstruation with heavy bleeding. For uterine prolapse, a specialized technique involves directing the needle toward REN-2, rotating to engage muscle fibers, then pulling upward and taping in position for 20-30 minutes.
