Posterior and inferior to the medial condyle of the tibia, in the upper portion of the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle, 1 cun posterior to Yinlingquan SP-9.
This point is often used to treat Painful Obstruction Syndrome on the knees and inner aspect of the knee, especially these caused by Wind or Dampness. It is very effective in treating arthritis.
《针灸甲乙经》(Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing): Records Xiguan as a point on the Liver meridian located at the knee region, primarily used for treating knee joint disorders.
《铜人腧穴针灸图经》(Tongren Shuxue Zhenjiu Tujing): Describes the location posterior and inferior to the medial condyle of the tibia and notes indications for knee pain and lower limb conditions.
First locate Yinlingquan SP-9 in the depression in the angle formed by the medial condyle of the tibia and the posterior border of the tibia. Xiguan LIV-7 is located 1 cun posterior to it.
Located near the great saphenous vein and saphenous nerve. Care should be taken when needling to avoid these structures. Ensure proper needle angle to avoid discomfort in the gastrocnemius muscle. For patients with knee edema or inflammation, gentle technique is recommended.

Local distension and soreness at the medial knee area. Deqi sensation may radiate into the calf muscle, along the medial aspect of the lower leg, or toward the knee joint depending on needle direction and depth.
