All the Kidney points on the abdomen (from Henggu KID-11 to Youmen KID-21) are also part of the Penetrating Vessel. Thus their indications are related to both the Channel and the Vessel.
The Penetrating Vessel is the 'Sea of Blood', 'Sea of the 12 Channel' as well as the 'Sea of the abdomen avenue'. Thus its points are often able to invigorate the Blood and Qi and remove Stagnation, especially in the abdomen. Therefore, Siman KID-14 is indicated for symptoms such as lower abdominal pain, umbilical pain and constipation.
Apart from Stagnant Qi and Blood, the point can also subdues Rebellious Qi in the Penetrating Vessel, which is known as Running Piglet Syndrome. In this case, the patients feel that strong Qi rushes to the chest and throat from the lower abdomen. In the meanwhile, they also suffer from lower abdominal fullness and pain, painful periods, feeling of chest oppression, palpitations, anxiety as well as feeling of lump in the throat. A Reducing Needling method should be used for this type of Excess case.
Furthermore, it invigorates Blood in the Uterus and the Penetrating Vessel so as to treat various gynecologic disorders. Typical symptoms include painful, irregular and heavy periods, retention of
lochia, excessive vaginal discharge and infertility.
On the other hand, KID-14 can also be used in Deficient patterns when applying Tonifying Needling method. Most importantly, it nourishes the Essence and Marrow. In fact, it has other names such as 'Suifu', meaning the House of Marrow, or Suizhon, meaning the Marrow Center.
Jia Yi Jing (A-B Classic of Acupuncture, 282 CE): Lists Siman among the points where the Kidney channel and Chong Mai meet on the abdomen, indicating its use for abdominal fullness and gynecological disorders.
Zhen Jiu Da Cheng (Great Compendium of Acupuncture, 1601): Records Siman for treating the 'four fullnesses' - distension of the abdomen, accumulation of food, stagnation of Qi, and retention of water.
Ling Shu (Spiritual Pivot): The Kidney channel pathway through the abdomen establishes the connection between the lower abdominal points and the regulation of the Chong Mai and Ren Mai vessels.
Divide the distance between the umbilicus center and the upper border of the pubic symphysis into 5 equal part. Each part is about 1 cun. Siman KID-14 is 3 cun above the upper border of the public symphysis and 0.5 cun lateral to the anterior midline.
Located in the lower abdomen with peritoneum underneath. Deep needling risks pneumoperitoneum (air entering the abdominal cavity). Use caution during pregnancy as stimulation of lower abdominal points may affect the uterus. Ensure proper angle and depth control. Patients with distended bladder should empty before needling. Avoid in cases of acute abdominal conditions requiring surgical evaluation.

Deqi typically manifests as a dull, distending sensation in the lower abdomen that may radiate toward the midline (Ren Mai) or into the pelvic region. Some patients experience a sensation of warmth spreading through the lower abdomen. The sensation may also travel downward toward the genitals due to the point's connection with the Chong Mai.
