Underarm tumors refer to abnormal growths or masses that appear in the axillary (underarm) region. These can range from benign (non-cancerous) conditions, such as lipomas or cysts, to more serious malignancies like lymphomas or metastases from other cancer sites. The presence of a tumor in the underarm can be a cause for concern, prompting further medical evaluation to determine its nature and appropriate treatment.
From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), underarm tumors are seen as manifestations of internal disharmonies and imbalances within the body's Qi (energy), Blood, and bodily fluids.
TCM does not directly correlate to the concept of benign or malignant tumors as understood in Western medicine but instead focuses on the underlying imbalances that lead to the physical manifestations of disease. Diagnosing and treating these imbalances, often involving stagnation or accumulation of Phlegm, Dampness, and Heat toxins, are central to TCM's approach.
