An abscess is an accumulation of pus that builds up within the tissue of the body, often due to a bacterial infection such as Staphylococcus aureus. They're often prone to develop where the normal anatomy is disturbed as in pilonidal disease, an epidermoid cyst or around foreign bodies such as surgical sutures.
There is 1 pattern of disharmony in our database - Blood Stagnation with Heat - that is associated with abscesses. TCM sees our body (and mind) as a holistic system in which health issues stem from imbalances, known as "patterns of disharmony". These patterns can manifest in a wide range of symptoms and illnesses, such as abscesses here.
For more details on "Blood Stagnation with Heat" and underlying causes behind abscesses, refer to this comprehensive page on the subject.
